Isabel, President of Tallahassee NOW, and I attended the 2026 Florida Immigrant Coalition Congress last week!

The annual FLIC Congress gives members a chance to come together, organize, and vote on board members and priorities. We connected with so many organizers and community members from across the state! There were several gender justice orgs represented, and I got to connect with so many incredible people. The vast work of the 70+ orgs in the FLI Coalition was so inspiring to have in one room. People shared stories of their experiences, danced, ate, and laughed together. The panels were extremely well done, with amazing panelists. The conference ballroom featured a memorial altar for the immigrant people who have passed in ICE custody.

I’m so grateful for the opportunity to go! Thank you to Heidi at GO NOW for hosting me so I could attend and represent Florida NOW! Florida NOW has voted to join FLIC, which I am thrilled about as an immigrant myself. FLIC is an incredible space for immigrant resources and community.
