Americans Don’t Abide Kings or Dictators. Trump is a crime against America!
We Won’t Be Overwhelmed, We Will Focus!
Florida NOW stands firm against the erosion of democratic values under President Donald Trump’s alarming tactics of Shock and Chaos. Trump has been in office for only a month, yet his administration has already unleashed policies and executive orders aimed at destabilizing the American democracy and targeting marginalized communities. Backed by powerful corporations and billionaires, Trump’s administration continues to undermine democracy and concentrate power, threatening the very foundations of American governance. His Shock and Chaos Campaign copies Hitler and Hitler destroyed the German Democracy in 53 days. We won’t let that happen.
We recognize the immense emotional toll his relentless executive orders and harmful policies impose on communities nationwide and globally. This Shock and Chaos strategy seeks to overwhelm and terrify marginalized people. However, our communities are coming together to care for one another and build networks of support as we collectively navigate this plummet into deeper American fascism.
FLORIDA NOW REACTS:
Debbie Deland, President of Florida NOW, said, “Trump’s actions thrive on shock and chaos, relentlessly pushing harmful decrees that destabilize the lives of millions. He is a criminal that continues to commit crimes. His reckless suggestions, such as the forced displacement of Palestinians in Gaza, as well as threats to strip birthright citizenship—a fundamental right protected by the 14th Amendment—are clear examples of his disregard for the rights of marginalized communities. He is firing thousands of federal civil servants without any analysis. He has cut resources for National Parks, beloved by most Americans, that are already understaffed. He is threatening cutting NPR and Public Television because they offer a non-partisan view of the news. He has stripped the Federal Government of all DEI references and programs at the expense of all of us. He erroneously cut federal employees that work on our nuclear arms maintenance and has no way to get them back. And the list of shameful policies and orders continue. His ridiculous renaming of the Gulf to the Gulf of America is the height of self-absorption. It is and will remain the Gulf of Mexico. We denounce every one of his dangerous actions. His executive orders are blatant attempts to strip fundamental rights, deepen divisions within our nation, and set a dangerous groundwork for extreme authoritarianism. We refuse to stand idly while our rights, our democracy, and our future are dismantled by this regime. Florida NOW stands with those most affected by these dangerous policies and will continue to fight for justice, equity, and human dignity.”
