FL NOW Screening: “LAKOTA NATION VS UNITED STATES” Sunday, November 16th, 2pm

November 16, 2025 @ 2:00 pm - 4:00 pm

Join us for this month’s film screening: Lakota Nation Vs United States

As the season approaches when many celebrate without recognizing the ongoing history of Indigenous resistance or acknowledging settler violence, this film invites us to reflect, learn, and listen.

Directed by Jesse Short Bull and Laura Tomaselli, and narrated by acclaimed poet Layli Long Soldier, Lakota Nation vs. United States tells the story of the Lakota people’s resistance to the U.S. government’s theft of the Black Hills, land that was promised back to them by treaty, later seized and stolen again.

Through archival footage, interviews, and the voices of Lakota leaders and community members, the film traces generations of broken treaties, systemic dispossession, and cultural erasure, while highlighting the resilience and strength of the Lakota Nation.

Following the screening, we will host an open community conversation on Indigenous resistance, sovereignty, land justice, and how struggles for liberation are interconnected across movements.

Come watch this must see film with us!
