FL NOW Condemns the Outrageous Federal Interference in Smithsonian Museums and Attacks on Historical Truth

Orlando, FL — The Florida National Organization for Women (FL NOW) condemns the Trump administration’s escalating intervention in the Smithsonian Institution, including federal reviews of exhibits, pressure to rewrite or remove content, and new oversight requirements that threaten the independence of the nation’s most important public museums.

Florida NOW Fully Supports ACLU Lawsuit Seeking Justice for Families of Chad Joseph and Rishi Samaroo

Orlando, FL — Florida NOW stands in full solidarity with the families of Chad Joseph and Rishi Samaroo, two Trinidadian men whose lives were taken during a U.S. Federal Maritime Strike in October 2025. The strike was part of the Trump administration’s Operation Southern Spear, using a Federal Maritime Interdiction Team. These men’s families, represented by the American Civil Liberties Union, have filed suit seeking accountability for what they describe as an unlawful use of deadly force that violated both U.S. and international law.

FL NOW Condemns Murder of Minneapolis Man by Federal Agents and Calls for Transparency, Accountability, and Protection of Civil Rights

Orlando, FL — The Florida National Organization for Women (FL NOW) is expressing deep alarm and grief following the killing of 37‑year‑old ICU nurse Alex Jeffrey Pretti by federal immigration agents in Minneapolis on January 24. According to multiple news reports, Pretti — a U.S. citizen, lawful gun owner, and longtime Minneapolis resident — was fatally shot during a federal enforcement operation that has already drawn widespread public concern and justified criticism.
